MASON RAMSEY – BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

 

Born into a military family, Mason Ramsey grew up living in Asia, The Western, Midwest and Southern United States and graduating high school in Anchorage, Alaska in 1974. 

 

After graduation, the family drove down the Alkan Highway and across the United States, re-settling in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where Mason, in 1956 was born at a military hospital, called, Eglin, AFB. 

 

While attending college, Mason began working in the broadcasting industry, becoming an evening radio personality for a local country radio station, WFSH. 

 

Mason’s career evolved into radio and TV production as a writer, producer and talent in voice over and on-camera work, while developing a sales persona as a business entrepreneur and promoter.

 

Two daughters, Shanna and Sharon were born in Florida and Louisiana as he worked developing his skills, working for radio stations and advertising firms in the capacity as an on-air talent, program director, production director and free-lance voice talent.

 

In 1983 Mason accepted a position in his first Major Market City as the evening radio personality at 94FM KLCY in Salt Lake City where he dominated and maintained some of the highest audience ratings for three years.  It was during his first year in Utah, that his only son, Shaylan was born at the University of Utah. 

 

After leaving Utah in 1986, Mason briefly worked in the Orlando market at WBJW-BJ105FM before advertising and business interest developed in the Pacific Micronesian Islands. 

 

While living in Guam, Mason not only worked as an on-air talent for Hit Radio 100 and KUAM, he also worked as a Television host and produced numerous commercials, acting as a writer, talent, producer, director, photographer.  As a certified scuba diver, other business interest included contracts with five local dive companies, photographing clients above and underwater.  Mason’s outgoing persona developed a natural sales ability in representing numerous affiliations with local businesses, including Winchell’s Donuts, The Greyhound Kennel Club, Budweiser and other business developing advertising and promotional campaigns, including representing the South Pacific’s largest shopping mall, Micronesia Mall, where he still does commercial voice-overs to this day.

 

Returning to the United States in 1989 – Mason Eventually settled in Tampa, Florida where he free lanced commercial voice-overs and worked as a news assignment editor for a television station WTVT-Channel 13 in the fox network. 

 

Even while Mason worked in radio, television and advertising in Tampa, he began working as a sales person in the furniture industry.  It was long days and over nights, working to keep his dream of national recognition alive.  Mason was also featured as the on-camera spokesperson for a feature length production for Jim Walter Homes in the mid nineties and produced thirteen episodes for a major Animal Network.

 

It was in Tampa, Florida where he witnessed the events surrounding the murders of an Ohio mother and her two daughters, while on the last leg of their Florida vacation.  The story became Mason’s second novel, “Bodies in the Bay,” becoming his first book published, by a small group of investors looking to help attract a major publisher.  Currently the screenplay for “Bodies in the Bay,” is looking for a production company to make the feature into a full-length motion picture.

Mason’s first book is also based on the events surrounding the murder of his younger sister Donna, but remains unpublished.  Another Novel, “The Mile High Murders” has been mostly completed, but also remains unpublished. 

 

Mason moved to Denver, Colorado in July 1997 where he resides with his wife Judi.  He began working with Clear Channel Radio as a part time air talent doing weekend shifts and filling in for the Morning Team during the holidays; while maintaining and working in sales as an advertising representative with a local phone book company.

 

In 1998 Mason completely dropped from the broadcasting industry, concentrating on working with the development of publishing his work and furniture sales, until August 2003 when he began doing the weekend over nights for KXKL-KOOL 105FM as an on-air talent. 

 

It was in August 2004 that Mason began working with the Jones Radio Network after being heard by the Operations Manager of the Good Time Oldie Network, JJ McKay who tapped Mason for the hosting duties of America’s Coast to Coast Oldies Request Show (Saturday Night at the Oldies) and Juke Box Sunday Night – The Classic Roots o Rock and Roll, a doo-wop program featuring the 50s and early 60s oldies.  Both shows are five hours long and very listener interactive, and are heard Nationwide on approximately 130 affiliate stations within the network.

 

Mason received strong ratings from being on the air with the Jones Radio Network, and fantastic reviews as a writer. 

 

Mason is hoping to develop his natural abilities as a talent, producer and director into a viable commodity for America’s Coast to Coast Entertainment Network and Rock and Roll Heaven.net but also, the entertainment media as a whole.

Mason’s mantra is; “Life is the best experience, and experience is the best teacher,” ‘I just wish someone would give me the diploma!’
